Do you like to do things but not alone? The Singles Group is where you can join with others for all kinds of activities and fun events. Dori Wallace chairs the group.  Her goal is to have two or more fun things to do each month. Regular planning meetings are held at the Center on the second Friday of each month at 1:30 pm.  Dori can be reached at 610-398-0142.

Friday, October 4:  Apple picking at Grim’s Orchard in Breinigsville, 9875 Schantz Road.  We will meet at the entrance gate at 1:00 p.m.  There is no admission for picking.  The snack bar will not be open, but there will be cider and donuts etc. for purchase, as well as apples and other seasonal food products.  From Route 100, Schantz Road (head SW toward Kutztown) is about midway between I-78/Tilghman St. and Hamilton Blvd. (Route 222).  On the way back, those who wish can visit one of the nearby wineries for some tasting and perhaps purchasing.  RSVP to Dori by noon on Friday.

 

Tuesday, October 8:  For those bowlers who want to bowl more than once per month, we will be at Jordan Lanes on MacArthur Rd., just south of Home Depot, at 1:00 p.m.  The cost is $1.00 per game and $2.50 for shoe rental.  Hot dogs, beverages and other snack food is available for purchase.  No RSVP necessary.

 

Friday, October 11:  Monthly planning meeting and social hour at Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1:30 p.m. in room 106.  Newcomers are always welcome.

 

Thursday, October 17:  Lunch at the Fairgrounds Hotel, corner of 17th and Liberty Sts., Allentown, at 12:30 p.m., followed by Fun and Games at LVAL at 2:00 p.m.  Bring what you have and we’ll decide what to play.  Our favorites lately have been Five Crowns, Quiddler, Chinese Checkers and Dominos.  They are all easy to learn.  It’s not about winning; it’s about having fun.  RSVP to Dori regarding lunch one day prior.

 

Saturday, October 26:  Trail walk at Wildlands Conservancy’s Dorothy Rider Pool Sanctuary in Emmaus at 2:00 p.m.  There are seven short and easy trails, each with different features for you to enjoy.  Directions:  From Hamilton Blvd., take Cedar Crest Blvd. south to River Bend Road (approx. 2.5 miles).  Turn left and at the stop sign turn right onto Orchid Place.  The entrance is on the right at the white bridge.  After our walk, we will relocate to T.G.I. Friday’s in the Cedar Point Shopping Center, Cedar Crest and Hamilton Blvds. for dinner at approximately 4:00 p.m.  RSVP to Dori one day prior.  Rain date Sunday, Oct. 27.

 

Thursday, October 31:  Bowling at Haja Rose Bowl, 801 N. 15th Street, Allentown, at 1 p.m.   $5.00 provides for use of a ball, shoe rental, two games of bowling, a hot dog and a beverage.  We bowl for fun only.  No prior experience is necessary.
