Join our Singles Group for activities and fun!

Do you like to do things but not alone? The Singles Group is where you can join with others for all kinds of activities and fun events. Dori Wallace chairs the group.  Her goal is to have two or more fun things to do each month. Regular planning meetings are held at the Center on the second Friday of each month at 1pm.  Dori can be reached at 610-398-0142.

Events: November 2017 (Revised 11/02/17)

Wednesday, November 8:  The first noon LVAL movie this month is “The Zoo Keeper’s Wife.” When the Nazis invade Poland, a husband and wife work covertly with the Resistance to save hundreds of lives in the Warsaw Ghetto.  Members $2.00, non-members $4.00.  An ice cream sundae is included.

Thursday, November 9: “A Salute to the Flag,” Veterans’ Day Concert at LVAL 9:30-11:00 a.m., featuring the Lehigh Valley Pops Orchestra.

Friday, November 10:   Monthly planning meeting and social hour at Lehigh Valley Active Life at 1:30 p.m. in room 106.  Newcomers are always welcome.

Monday, November 13:   Senior Monday program at the DaVinci Science Center, 1:00-2:00 p.m.  The topic of this month’s lecture, presented by the St. Luke’s University Health Network, is entitled “The Basics of Back Pain in People over the age of 55.”  Admission of $5.00 entitles you to the lecture as well as the opportunity to explore all of the museum’s exhibits.  RSVP to Dori by Friday, November 10, so that she can make a group reservation.

Thursday, November 16:  Fun and Games session, 2-3:30 p.m. at LVAL room 106.  Come and play some games.  Bring what you have and we’ll decide what to play: Telestration, Five Crowns, Dominoes, etc.  It’s not about winning; it’s about having fun.  Optional: lunch at 12:30 p.m., at the Shanty, 613 N. 19th Street, Allentown.  RSVP to Dori by Wednesday regarding both lunch and games.

Sunday, November 19:  Walk through Trexler Park.  Meet at the bench in the parking lot off of Springhouse Road in Allentown (South Whitehall) at 2:00 p.m. for a leisurely stroll of 1.2 miles.  At approximately 3:00 p.m. we will relocate to nearby Ruby Tuesday’s at 3995 Tilghman Street to enjoy a meal together before the early onset of evening.  RSVP to Dori one day prior.  Rain date November 26.

Thursday, November 23, 2017:  HAPPY THANKSGIVING.  Please note that bowling will be the following week, November 30.

Wednesday, November 29:  The second LVAL noon movie is “Beauty and the Beast.”  You know the story, but this 2017 version is a live-action musical film, complete with castle, dungeon, wolves, enchantress, magic mirror, rescued damsel, etc.  Members $2.00, non-members $4.00.  An ice cream sundae is included.

Thursday, November 30:  Bowling at Haja Rose Bowl, 801 N. 15th Street, Allentown, at 1 p.m.  $5.00 provides for use of a ball, shoe rental, two games of bowling, a hot dog and a beverage.  We bowl for fun only.  No prior experience is necessary.
